tickets

When you buy your tickets, make sure you buy this ticket, so you can get into the Marie Antoinette area as well.

http://billetterie.chateauversailles.fr/passport-visite-chateau-css5-chateauversailles-lgen-pg51-ei110657.html

This is called the "passport" ticket and is 20€. It is well worth it, it gives you access to everything--the chateau, all of the grounds and the "domaine of Marie Antoinette", which is where we will do the proposal. I suggest you spend the entire day at Versailles, it is huge with a ton to do. You can even rent boats and go on a lake, or rent bicycles.

meeting spot

It's really important you get to the chateau early, as on a Saturday it will be CROWDED and you'll need to go through security to get in and it will take time. You'll also want plenty of time to visit the various rooms of the chateau. I'd recommend 1-2 hours to visit the chateau, take your time there. The chateau opens at 9:00 am.

However, the area of Marie Antoinette, where we're going, does not open until 12:00 noon. We don't want too much time between the two or else she might wonder what is going on. So maybe arrive at 9:30 am to the chateau, stay for two hours and then meet me outside at 11:30 am.

I will be positioned at the ENTRANCE TO THE GARDENS. So when you come out of the chateau there is an exit to the gardens, I will be there waiting.  I will email you closer to the date with what I am wearing, but typically I'm in a black coat with polka dot scarf.

It's quite possible it could rain on the day of our meeting as well, it rains all the time in Paris, so please make sure you have an umbrella.

our story and plan

You should tell your girlfriend that it was an option to add onto the ticket a private tour of Marie Antoinette estate and that the guide is meeting us outside the chateau after you finish the tour. That I am a private guide that will take us to the Marie Antoinette area and tell us about Marie Antoinette. I will have my camera with me of course, and I will tell her that I can take pictures at any time, and will send them via email, there is no extra charge for this.

We will walk over to the Marie Antoinette area (this is a bit far and will take 20 minutes or more to walk), this is an area the queen had built just for herself and to get away from the king for some "me" time. Her house is there as well as the gardens and the hamlet in the back. I will take you over to the Temple of Love, and you can propose here. Here is a picture of it below. This will all be done in a casual and relaxed manner, no rushing, so that you can enjoy everything together.

When we get to the Temple of Love, YOU WILL ASK ME TO TAKE YOUR PICTURE ON YOUR CELL PHONE here, and when you do, I'll take the picture, give it back to you. Then, you can ask her (you may have to wait for no people to be around).

There won't be flowers like this blooming in April, but it will still be pretty

This is in the area, the flowers won't be blooming but you can see there are still a lot of trees

the rest of the day

After the proposal, we'll walk to the hamlet and take some gorgeous pictures around there. I'll stay with you for two hours total. The pictures should be very unique and memorable for you to have forever.

transportation

It's easy to get to Versailles on public transport. Here is the train information:

RER C
To get to the palace of Versailles, buy two tickets (round trip, also known as aller-retour) to "Versailles Château Rive Gauche" for the RER C. The closest stop to your hotel to get on the RER C is the Javel station. You can confirm with your hotel how to get to Javel. From Javel, it is a 46 minute ride to the Versailles Rive Gauche train station. When you get there, you will exit, turn right, walk down the street 2-3 blocks, then turn left, and you'll see the huge gates.
