The day could not have been more perfect
There we were, looking over the Eiffel Tower on a sunny, perfect May morning in Paris. A man and woman approached me, as I was standing there. I took a photo for them, as I often do. After all, we're all tourists when it comes down to it, right?
Then, Nadeem took the hand of his beloved, Melissa, and asked her to marry him. She was surprised, emotional, and beautiful in this moment and she said YES!
She told me later she'd been waiting for this moment for a long time. I thought about this, and how especially we as women dream about finding the one we love and want to spend our lives with from a very young age. It's not that we're searching for prince charming, we're searching for the prince charming right for us.
Someone we can laugh with, have fun with, have deep conversations with, and feel a deep connection to. Someone who will have our back, support us, and be a true life partner.
A Paris surprise proposal is like no other
When we've found that person we want to spend the rest of our lives with, we envision how that magic day will unfold, the day he or she proposes to us. The man often goes over every painstaking detail over and over in his head. He buys the ring he thinks she will love, but in the back of his mind, he's a little worried. What if she doesn't like it? What if it doesn't fit? What if the day doesn't go exactly as planned?
When we as women tell our friends that we're going to Paris with the man we love, the first thing they say to us is, "He's gonna propose!" Of course, we know this could be the case, but we are never sure.
Not even when he walks us to the Eiffel Tower, one of the most romantic settings on the planet, are we sure. And then he gets down on one knee, and it's all a blur. Is this really happening? Here? With a view of the Eiffel Tower? The two of us here, like no one else exists? It's a dream, and most women (and men too) have to take a while and let it all sink in.
I try to stand back and give the couple the space they are entitled to during this amazing moment, and when they're ready, I introduce myself and congratulate the couple. Sometimes I even wipe away a tear from my eye, I'm emotional and it's I think that true emotion I have as a person that makes me an amazing surprise proposal photographer in Paris.
The Louvre awaits
I really enjoyed getting to know Nadeem and Melissa. We talked about our love of travel, and our work, and the fun things we like to do. After Nadeem proposed at the Eiffel Tower, we did a gorgeous set of images there and then headed to our second location, which Nadeem selected as the Louvre Museum, one of the most famous in the world.
I absolutely love the Louvre courtyard for all of its intricate details, and Nadeem and Melissa looked amazing against this backdrop
Quick pop in to the Tuileries Gardens
As we were so close to the gardens called Tuileries, I asked Nadeem and Melissa if they'd like to pop into the gardens quickly, for another view of the Louvre from the gardens. I'm so glad we did because the beautiful spring green foliage was amazing to photograph, particularly on the typically Parisian park benches.
I so enjoyed working with this couple and meeting them. They were so fun to chat with and I felt like I'd made new friends. I wish them incredible amounts of happiness and love for a lifetime!
