Cool family from Canada Parisian photo shoot | Paris family photographer
Cool family from Canada
Colleen, a principal at a secondary school in Canada, and her husband Randy, a businessman with a painting contractor business, came to Paris with their two sons, on a wonderful Parisian holiday. Colleen had contacted me, inquiring about a family photo session. I was more than happy to spend two hours in Paris with this kind and funny family!
Colleen booked the Diamond Picture Me Paris photo session, which is two hours in Paris and two locations. Colleen selected the Eiffel Tower as the primary location and then the beautiful river scenery near the Notre Dame Cathedral, on the Île St Louis. We were blessed with a bright, sunny summer day.
From the moment I met Colleen and her family, I felt warmly welcomed. Which is an odd thing to say, as they are the visitors to Paris, but as a Paris photographer, I indeed felt warmly welcomed by this family.
Randy made me laugh from the outset, he has a very dry and amazing sense of humor, and a sense of fun. Colleen's smile lit up all of Paris, and their sons were super friendly and nice. Let's be honest, sometimes the kids aren't so excited for something like this, but they were so friendly and warm.
I learned that one of Colleen's sons is studying business, he's great with finance. Her other son is an expert cook. Somehow we got on the topic of hamburgers, and he said he could cook a pretty good burger. From that point on, I had visions of a juicy cheeseburger in my head. These brothers are great at what they do, but the whole family looked amazing in their images too!
What to wear?
A lot of families ask me what to wear for their Paris photo shoots. In general, avoiding dark colors and excessive prints are a good bet, and it's always nice too if you can color coordinate to look more cohesive. Colleen's dress was divine, with feminine overlay of lace. Randy looked sharp too, and the blue on his shirt cuffs matched their sons' shirts as well. You'll notice the men are also wearing a similar color trouser. They looked cohesive and sharp!
Bir Hakeim Bridge
It was a bit of a challenge to photograph at Trocadero, because in the middle of July there is the Fête National (Bastille Day), and the fireworks launched for the spectacular evening of July 14th are launched from Trocadero. Therefore, the entire area was pretty much fenced off and inaccessible.
Happily, though, there are many more places to photograph the Eiffel Tower, my favorite being the bridge of Bir Hakeim. It's so scenic, with its ironwork, has a great view of the Seine River and of course, of the Eiffel Tower. It also gives families lots of options for posing, and of course if it's raining, as it often does, it provides a bit of shelter from the weather.
Then, we headed to Notre Dame
When families wanting to be photographed in Paris are looking for something typically Parisian, I often take them to the area surrounding Notre Dame Cathedral. The back of the cathedral is stunning and has a very charming garden. Then, we walked on the cobblestones by the river, which allowed us to not only photograph the back of the cathedral, but the architecture on the island as well.
Too much fun
Why does time go so fast when you're having fun? Too soon, our session ended and I had to say goodbye. I had so much fun, and laughs with this family, they are full of love and light. I'm so thankful they chose me to capture their precious family time in Paris!
